We have had a couple of days with some warmer weather. Our two buddies came right out of hibernation, or I guess they hadn't fallen asleep yet this season.
The bird house is almost as tall as I am so I guesstimate the big one to be about 10 feet long, the other one about 7 or so, click on the picture to see better, it's to the right.
And they were both so cute when they were little. We've known them since they were about 2 feet long.

Just so no one starts to think alligators hibernate during the winter like a lumbering old bear in the North Woods.
They DON'T!
They do tend to slow down when the temps drop below 70, but they aren't sleeping!
True they will dig into a mud bank if it gets really cold, they may not fed and will even slow down their heart rate.
But don't get the idea they are asleep. If you see a gator on a bank in December or January he's very much alive and will attack if he feels threatened.
