Communicator

I am one hell of a communicator, take this for example.

Jonas, How is Melinda doing?

Marta, I don't know, why do you ask?

Jonas, Since she got rear ended yesterday, it didn't look to bad but still, be nice if you called her.

Marta, You never told me!

Jonas, I didn't? I sure meant to tell you.

Marta, Jonas, you're an idiot.

Well, I have to agree with her this time. I could have swore that I told her. As for how Melinda is doing I have no clue, Marta might have told me and I most likely didn't listen to her. Another thing that I am accused of daily.

Grey's anatomy

Last night was season premiere of this show. It is Marta's favorite show so I just have to put up with it. When it comes to the Deadliest catch, we change channel right away and only during commercial breaks of some stupid rerun show we have seen 10 times do I get to switch back.

Why is that?

Saturday

From left to right, me, Duane,Jeff and Scott.

I screwed up the first race by not paying attention to race committee, neither did 2/3 of our fleet. We will blame it on them. Second race we had Katie cooking, we got a fourth.

The party was a dissapointment but the overall fundraising a big sucess.

Katie Too

Katie is ready for tomorrow. I have her spinnaker pole in the car, newly painted. Clear coated carbon only holds up for 6 years in SC. You couldn't touch the damn thing without itching for three days afterwards. That problem is now solved.

Wish us luck tomorrow. First start at 11.00 am.

The ugly life

I came across a very interesting and totally disturbing piece today. I am shocked how some families are completely screwed up. I have to remember this and learn so that my children doesn't end up with 4 children when they are at the age of 19.

Scott's world of golf

It is time again for Alex's weekly golf lesson. He went to a few camps this summer and he absolutely loves it. The biggest thing for him is that he gets to be with the big kids. They are all 2 years older then him. He does hold his own, heck I let him tee off in the front yard and he put a nice round dent in my car. Lesson learned.

More porn!

That is what my colleague and friend Ingvar had as a title in a business e-mail the other day. He has a customer that needs a rig in New York so we sent a few emails back and forth. I have known Ingvar for little over twenty years now. He is an avid sailor, he does have an Olympic gold medal to prove it, and he's an all around funny guy. So I was not too surprised with the choice of title.

So what is the "more porn"?

He has bought a new boat that he says is a Finnish ship. After 5.5 weeks of vacation sailing, with Lappinkulta (Finnish beer) and Gammal Dansk (Danish liquor), and only 3 days of rain he is a happy man. He sent me some pretty awesome pictures with an invitation to go sailing. I will jump on that when opportunity raises.

Spanish inquisition

Marta and I just had a show down between the Spaniards and the Vikings. Obviously I won.

Jonas; Are you trying too look mean?

Marta;Yes.,I am mean!

Jonas; You look more like you are about to pass gas.

Marta; Funny, he he he, you're the crappiest Viking I ever met.

I know honey, but if you are to pick a look fighting contest with a Viking you better be prepared. For years we have learned how to not show emotions, heck my Dad still only shakes his moms hand, she has to beg for a hug, same when it comes to me go figure. With that said I do believe we Vikings have it down, we concur, rape and slaughter. That's what people might
think but when they get to know us they find the most sen sere friend there is. Because you never let down your buddy, ever.

I love you ,honey!

The Elmo sofa

Our little Fia is a very big girl, at least she thinks so. We bought her a bed which she likes a lot, she can get in and out of it as she pleases. That has now developed in to that around 4.00 am she gets up, walks out in the living room where her Elmo couch is. Folds it open and lays down to sleep with her dog and blanket. Every morning I find her there. When asked if she would like to go to her own bed or to sleep with mom there is a big NO out of her.

Where's my diver?

I have called him for a week now to have the bottom of Katie cleaned, without him I have two options;

1. Do it myself.

2. Be about as fast around the marks as this boat would be.

Anyone sees Brian tell him to get to my boat. please.

Photo Model

Alex is our little model. He is in all the Park West sales ads. I see him at least once a week in the paper.

Cooling off

It's finally cooling off. This weekend is supposed to be just in the low 80's and some clouds. It comes handy since we have nothing but outdoor activities planned. Saturday is soccer and then prepare Katie for next weeks race, Sunday is boating and in the afternoon Children's day with all kinds of stuff for the little ones. We went last year when my sister and her family were here visiting. They have jump castles, fire trucks, climbing walls, face painting, etc.

As long as no one gets sick we will be busy bodies.

9/12/01

I just recalled the day after 9/11. Like that day I will never forget what happened. We were outside our house, my dad and I, when our neighbor came out. He is one of my best friends and also Milu's uncle. For the past week he had had his parents down from Long Island visiting and they were supposed to fly back that day. For obvious reasons that was impossible. We spoke about the event that had happened and we had the TV news in the back ground to get the latest updates. Our dad's started to get a bit bored and one thing led to the next and before we knew it, they had my new handhold GPS out to play with.

They started with trying to figure out the distance to Long Island and Sweden. Then they started to walk around on our front yards while entering way points so that they could walk the same track again. This went on for a good couple of hours to the amusement of these upper middle aged men.

For the rest of us, we kicked back and had a cocktail, not even Milu was interested in backtracking across the lawns and around the neighbor hood. And yes, the waypoints are still in the GPS, heck they are the only ones that have used the GPS so far.

Night lights

Marta was upstairs on the computer something to do with the moms club. It started to be a little late so I turned off the TV and went to check on the kids. They slept just fine so I turned off all lights except in our bedroom. As I am brushing my teeth I hear,

Marta; Aough, JONAS, why did you turn the lights off?

Jonas; huh?

Marta; I just stepped on something and I broke it. That really hurt.

Jonas; What was it? You know you have to look out for stuff, Fia puts it every where.

Marta; You turned the lights off, I can't see what I am stepping on.

Jonas; Honey, that is a lame excuse, we have so many night lights in the house it looks like a Christmas parade.

Marta; Christmas parade, that's pretty funny, are you going to blog about this?

Jonas; Damn right I am.

Marta stepped on a plastic hammer from who knows what toy set.

Remember to fix fuel gage

Saturday after Alex's soccer practice we went out on the boat. It was a great day for it and while driving down to the marina I thought about the fuel level. Probably time to fill, let's stop at the fuel dock I told the kids. Well we didn't make the fuel dock, we ran out half way there. Well, well, we went on to do our sailing trip and upon returning to the marina we had to sail her in to the dock. This is the third time we ran out of fuel this year, people has started to call me a show off since it is now more likely that we will sail in rather than motor.

Any how, Fia and I went down Sunday with some fresh diesel and an other gorgeous day for sailing. We got the engine running and off we went on a full day on the water. We went about 5-10 miles offshore. I always let Fia steer when we dock which makes my fellow marina patrons a bit nervous. So far she has a perfect docking record.

Alex was home with mom, not feeling well. Around midnight he had extreme difficulty breathing and he did not respond to his medicine. So mom had to rush him to the emergency room for steroids and this time he will receive them for five days straight. Poor little fellow.

Garage sale

It was the annual fall garage sale in the neighbor hood today. I was up out in the garage at 6.30 am getting the drive way ready for customers. Marta was at work, Alex at grandma and grandpa's and Fia sound asleep. It was just Milu and I and not one early bird in sight. The sale was advertised to be between 7-11, that means they are in line at 6.15 to get the good stuff.

I only sold for about $75 today, that includes $50 I got for Fia's old crib. I still got all kinds off junk in the garage, good stuff that will be out in the spring when we do this again. I have had some odd looking lightbulbs, 24 of them, for five years worth of garage sales and no takers. Until this year.

Man, What are these?

I, Lightbulbs.

Man, Oddly shaped.

I, Yep, they are $7 a pop at walmart.

Man, How many do you got?

I, 24.

Man, I give you five bucks.

I, Sold.

Mans wife, What the hell are you going to do with these?

Man, Sell them for $2 each at our garage sale next week.

I wish him luck!

After work

A beer with the guys, the rule is if some one screws up they have to buy beer next Friday. Todays beer is on our driver Joe. You might want to stop and re secure your load once in awhile Joe. Next Friday is on Stephen, no the spec is not wrong, you are. Pony up some cash.

I like beer but if we had a beer when things go well instead we would forget how it tastes. This way we are about to become drunks. Needless to say, after 2.30 pm on Fridays there is little action on Franchise street.

Pirates

All Alex is talking about is pirates. We play pirates at the boat, a good spot for it, we play pirates in the back yard, in the car, every where. But in school they don't play pirates. That is all he has said about his first two days of school. That he loves it and that they do not play pirates. Can't wait for the report card so that we will know what he's up too.
