Meatballs

I asked Sofia today if she would like to have meatballs for dinner. YES, she screamed on top of her lungs. So with my two great little helpers I made some meatballs, 4 lbs (2 kg) of them. Alex and Fia started to eat them as fast as I could make them so I changed it up a bit, I let them roll the meatballs.

They dropped a few, Milu caught most of them, some went back up on the board and in the pan. It's a bit like Russian roulette, some have more spice than others.

Supporters

We went to the Charleston Battery game the other night. Loyal supporters as we are we dressed in the only true teams colors, Barca.

Viva la Vida

by Coldplay is stuck in my head, they play it once every hour on the radio. Might have something to do with why it's stuck.

Oil leak

My dear Betty has bleed all over the drive way. I put a quart (~1 liter) in yesterday and the darn low oil level came on again today. I know where the oil went, so does all my neighbors. I bet freaking Pentagon can see it with their satellites without magnifying all that much.

So I was almost on my way to call John up and use one of his lifts, Betty sits low. Milu lost her ball under the car and I laid down to fetch it when I saw drip, drip, drip from, you guessed it, the oil filter.

The numb nut of an imbecile never tightened it down after my oil change Tuesday. Come Tuesday ( Monday is a holiday) I'm slapping them with a free oil change for life and a bill for cleaning my drive way. Pretty fair since Betty's days are counted.

Adult hip hop

As I sit at our dinner table tonight Marta gives me some pamphlets to read about our kids school classes and Alex's soccer. He plays soccer on Daniel Island (fancy smancy) and they threw in a leaflet about what more they have to offer.

Jonas; They have ADULT hip hop!

Marta; Honey, not the adult you have in mind.

Jonas; Crap.

I was really hoping to pick up some cool moves in my nude, I could use it.

Donate!

I finally got my head out of my butt and set up a web site like last year.

Now I ask all of you to make a donation, it is for a great cause and the website is so easy to use. As last year the biggest contributor gets to sail with us in next years regatta.

And a big thank you from the crew of Katie Too for your support!

Leukemia Cup

We're coming up on the annual Charleston Leukemia Cup regatta. I've participated in it the past 9 years out this years 12.

I have two personal connections to leukemia, both children under the age of 6. One has made it so far, the other didn't.

I seldom get involved to this extent, but this is one that I burn for. I encourage you to participate, where ever you are or if you have a different cause, step up to it.

Health insurance

When your family's monthly premium for health insurance is more expensive than your monthly mortgage payment it's a sad day. Today was it, it could much likely have been last year, I didn't pay much attention to what the cost was then. It is absolutely insane how expensive it is.

Or maybe I have too small of a house. Easily fixed these days if you still have some what of a credit. Million dollar homes goes for 40% less.

I'm most humbly grateful that my company pays for most of the insurance. At the same time I'm more aware of reality than most that the company can not afford this trend forever. Not just mine, any company.

What the hell is going on, I'm turning in to become a democrat.

Come on

The kids went to a baseball game last night so I had Marta help me with the golf course. She also had some stuff she wanted to print for school. I tell her to start printing as we walk in the door. I look around and the guy in the pro shop yells up the stairs; Who's there? I talk with him for a bit and turn around and yell at Marta to get her sweet behind into gear.

We are almost finished when I ask her

J; Are you done printing?

M; I haven't started yet.

J; Stop fiddle fucking around and get to it!

I finish what needs to be done and she is not even close to have her stuff ready. She talks me in to heading over to Walmart to get her some supplies that is also needed for school. We run back to CNCC, pick up her stuff and finally we get home to have dinner. I sit down on the couch with a cold one and she comes over.

M; It doesn't go faster just because you're yelling at me.

J; You need to get your priorities straight instead of wasting time.

M; Oh, honey, I know deep down that you love.

J; You don't need to look very deep to figure that out.

And she gives me a kiss.

Tunisia

Marta; Honey we went to Tunis, not Tunisia.

Jonas; Yes we went to Tunis, the capital of Tunisia.

M, OK honey.

J; I'm going upstairs to Google this.

M; Right know?

J; Yes.

So I do and Marta had done some crap to upgrade her face book that gave seven error messages so it took a bit to clear that crap. So I bite my tongue from the remarks I can barely hear from downstairs, why doesn't she ever get that I'm a bit hard of hearing and no I will not wear a hearing aid. So finally, Tunis is the capital of Tunisia, a country on the Mediterranean in Northern Africa.

J; Honey, come check it out!

Marta runs up the stairs.

J; See!

M; Mmpffhh.

J; I told you so.

M; Did you take the rest of my wine?

J; No, I took half of what's left of your wine.

M; Who said you could?

J; You hate it when I'm right.

Marta runs back down stairs with out a word. I sit here and feel the greatness of being right for once. I will hang here in utopia for just a little bit more to enjoy this magical moment. The moment it precious, easily disrupted and she will way to soon find my swim trunks that I left on the bedroom floor but am so not supposed to and then I'll be back in reality.

At last

The whole family is finally back. It felt very good last night to kiss everybody good night.

All we need to do know is to break bad vacation habits and find our school routine. That will be easy.

Barbecue

I briefly got a hold of my wife today. We exchanged our normal pleasantries, which are I love you and I love you too. Then I inquired about the kids and they are apparently still alive so all is well. Then it dawned on me.

Jonas; Honey, would you like to take up barbecuing with me?

Marta; Barbecue?

J; Yeah.

M; Like what barbecue?

J; You know, we have a big cooker and we go to like Tennessee and Kentucky and you come up with a secret sauce and we win.

M; Are you serious?

J; I think that it might be fun.

M; No way.

J; Why not, we never tried it.

M; No way, we don't even have a cooker.

J; Well, this guy has one who I can trade to get it.

M; No way.

J; I could stripe your Volvo to match it and then if we had a catchy name for your secret sauce we'll be golden. It would be great!

M; No way.

J;No way?

M; NO WAY!!!!

So that is that, I can smell those ribs and a win like a given. Maybe next year.

Sitges

the beach town just south of Barcelona that we really enjoy. This is a bit strange since I have gay phobia and Sitges is the mecca for homosexuality. Regardless, it is one of the best beaches I have ever been to, clean, walkable and fabulous food for a reasonable prize, how can one go wrong.

Jellyfish

Just my luck, I got stung by a jellyfish while cleaning the bottom on Katie. I now understand the charge of a professional diver. My right arm is swollen, red as hell and it's numb, I had a hard time driving home with my left arm, Betty is slightly worn in her suspension so I have developed a good feeling to compensate that with my right arm that is totally useless this afternoon.

We made it home all right, my right lower arm is about twice it's normal seize and boy does it hurt.

In lack of Benedril, an allergic reaction reducer medicine, I have Yuengeling, brewed by the first ever brewery in the US. I think that about 10 of those will do it just fine.

Anxiety

I'm restless and have a severe form of anxiety today. My last day of vacation, three weeks went fast.

Marta and the kids are in N.C so the house is too boring to be in. I'm walking around with my coffee trying to decide what to do with today. Yesterday I cleaned the garage and started to sanitize Marta's car. I might continue with that or maybe head to the boat.

Or I might just goof all day, read my book and have an afternoon cocktail in the form of sweet tea vodka on the porch.

The ship

I swear, you can find just about anything on the net. This clip is from the day we left Barcelona onboard Grand Celebration. We are all standing on deck 10 waving goodbye to Barcelona.

I find it amazing that someone spends more time than I uploading crap on the net.

34 hours

is how long it can take between Barcelona and Charleston when things don't work out or as in our case, the airline didn't have enough passengers so we got to spend the night in New Jersey.

Now, we are back home for the night before Marta and the kids head to the mountains for a week.

I'll be a bachelor again come tomorrow 09.00.

Tourist

Our good friends that now live in Germany is here for a visit. I went and picked them up last night at the airport. Their first time in Spain and they got aquainted quick. Their hotel is right around the corner so they got to follow me down in to the garage or the dungeons as I call it. To get around down there you need to know how to manuver a car, thight is an understatement.

So, hugs all around and they got checked in and we went for dinner, pizza. Maybe not very Spanish but the time was, 10 pm or so.

Today we have toured Barcelona since 9 am. We have seen both cathedrals, Las Ramblas, Platja Catalonia, the gothic part, the Picasso museum etc.

The kids are completely pooped out and just got baths and dinner.

The four of us are heading out for dinner and cocktails, no kids, to get some of that night time action Barcelona offers.

Tomorrow, the beach.
