I think next year he'll be big enough to push the lawn mower. Can't wait.

Dec 30

Today we de Christmas our house. I tell you, it has taken forever. We still have the tree up for Los Reyes, Jan 6. All of my nice and very beautiful decorations are down in boxes waiting for next year. And what a year that will be, 2008, it will be a challenging and interesting year.

The kids helped me as best they could, very enthusiastic about helping, but my oldest!? Look at her, I know it's in the 70's (21-25 degrees Celsius) but for crying out loud, MILU!

Playing

The panting you hear is Milu. She wants for me to throw her stupid ball for the 1000th time this day.

When Dad is gone

The rats dance upon the table.

Family dinner

We just had a great family dinner. The first time in all these years when we had Martas two brothers (American) and their families together for dinner. We were short two nieces and a few dogs, but Grandma and Grandpa were here to make up for them. All knows,a Shmid can't stay to long.I got to tell you though, I don't think that any of them realized that I was filming. We are enjoying a Frogmore stew, the heads that are to come off are shrimp heads, noting else, but if I don't watch my back, some lunatic Socs fan might have at me.

Aunt K

Aunt K is all worried that I post her picture and steal her identity of hers on the blog. She is right to be worried, I will post everything that she does that I can make fun of her for. For one, she married Uncle John. You've got it coming sister.

Nap

Nap my ass, I am at work instead. To top it off Marta wants for me to go over to Toys R Us for more presents. Los Reyes is on January 6th. I will obey and fight the crowd.

For the people of Dubai, I will terrorize you during Ramadan or what ever other family holiday that is of importance to you. As Julius Caesar ( I'm sorry Plutarchos, the Greek might have said it first but are not known as well to have done so) said so well;

ALEA IACTA EST!

I feel for him

Poor deprived child sick as a dog. I am really worried, good thing he gets the best medicine. As I write this he is watching Go Diego Go,The Jaguar rescue. All I hear from downstairs is Alex roaring like baby Jaguar. Sick as he is, poor child.

Sick child

I am at home with a sick child, Alex. He is wheezing up a storm as he always does when he is sick. One breathing treatment later and some Scooby Doo on the TV he is better. Still in his new Spiderman PJ's.

Marta got up at 6.00 this morning to meet Pam for the sales. They got us more outside decorations for next year. 10 ornaments for the oak tree, light nets for the bushes and a lit Snowman! I can't wait for next years decorations, if my count is right we will sport some 7500 lights. My arch enemy, neighbor and winner of best dressed house 2007 will have to hand over the trophy next year, I will be upset otherwise. I wonder if the son of a gun is out shopping for more lights himself, he's been talking LED. I will have to head to Walmart and Lowe's to see what else I can find. He does have a 8 foot snowman that really sets his decorations off. Maybe invite his kids over for a playdate, bribe them with hot chocolate to find out the secret plan of his for next year.

As soon as Marta and Fia are back from Mommy & Me at Isle of Palms, I will see about this. Maybe just have a family lunch first and maybe a nap.

Christmas at Granma and Grandpa's

Good food, good times and great presents, plenty of them as well.

Cookies for Santa

Surfer dude

Every body knows a surfer dude. Long hair, cool sunglasses and a Jeep with out the top on. Our Alex fits right in.

NO FIA!

After church yesterday the kids and I went down to the marina. We of course stopped at Wendy's to get us some food, a tradition or should I say a bribe, before we get there.

Nice and warm day, a few scattered showers so we never left the dock. We did go up to the marina store for some ice cream. Once in there we get the ice cream, Milu gets a treat, I chat with the staff and some fellow patrons. Good time right. That is when it happens, out of the corner of my eye I see it happen in slow motion. Fia has grabbed a bottle of wine and drops it to the tile floor. Wine is splashing every where and Milu is first to react, hell there's wine on the floor, thanks Sis!

Well, I just ponied up the cash for the wine, asked them to put it up a bit higher for next visit and reprimanded Fia. I was so hard on her that Alex started crying as well. Milu got an ear full as well, damn dog drinking wine like that.

We left for home and I went out last minute as always for Marta's present. I got her 2 things and I spent to much money, well, well. I got surfer dude Alex a pair of dark colored Crocs, since it is winter, and 2 pirate jib bits to go with them since I was so mean. If Fia gets a pair after breaking the wine, NOT! I don't care how cute she is, she's a menace.

The Grinch

Off course there has to be a Grinch around on Christmas. We have one at work that is in anything but good spirit. The luncheon will be disaster and all I want is to leave.

I guess a bit of wine and good food will make up for it. After that Buffalo Cafe with my boys.

One more day

I only have one more day to work this year which is great. I can use some time off. How ever, one sure is busy before closing down for a nice 11 days off. The way the holidays fall this year means that it is only 3 business days lost, not much would have been accomplished any how but panic is here, it has to be done before next YEAR!

Well, I have a busy as could be day tomorrow up until 1.00 pm, after that there is just a nice barbecue at work and off for the holidays.

Discrimination

Marta and the kids had a terrible encounter with discrimination at Walmart the other day. A greeter there apparently doesn't like Spanish speaking people if they walk in the store using the right hand door, you need to use the left. Like it matters, both sides open from the outside. To make matters worse he started screaming and yelling at Marta.

She went and talked to the manager who was very apologetic and promised this won't happen again.

Last night I went there to get some food for us. I was greeted at the door and offered a buggy. Thanks I said and would have been on my way if I didn't have had three Hispanic men behind me who were not let in the same door as me. See, I went in the "wrong door" which was fine for me but not for them. I stopped dead in my tracks, watch them walk back out, in again through the "right door" and get the buggy them selves.

I read the name tag on the greeter and guess what, same guy that discriminated Marta. I asked him what he was doing, he said sir here and there, to end it with that I would have to watch out for myself and see the manager if I dared.

I sure dared to see the manager, who took for ever to show up. Meanwhile, I was watching the guy, he let several groups of white and blacks in through the "wrong door" and there comes two Hispanics right behind, hell no, no entrance for them.

I was so boiling mad and sad that we have to live with this. I had a lengthy chat with the manager who assured me that this will be taken care of. I guess the fact that I video taped it all with my cell phone assures some action.

Marta was so proud of me last night for standing up against discrimination.

IOP postoffice

Marta and Fia went to the post office on Isle of Palms.

The line was long and the parking lot full of cars from the 3 big German houses Volkswagen, Mercedes and BMW. Only one Japanese manufacturer was present, Lexus.

Marta held her own in a Swedish wagon with 3 car seats and full of dog hair.

Done!

We are done with Christmas shopping. Marta did most of it, I was present in a couple of stores but not many.

Last night we loaded up the Volvo with gifts for Alex's teachers, classmates and Sofia's playgroup buddies. We also loaded our Christmas cards ( for once they are supposed to make Europe in time according to the US post office) and gift donations for the Orphanage and My Sisters House.

Marta is like Santa today, handing it all out. She also has the stuff for Alex's schools party. I tell you, this takes a lot of time and money. I can't wait for this to be done with, it is crazy.

We do have one to buy for, my nephew is in to Bob the Builder, we can't seem to find that any where. I will go to one more store tonight, if they don't have it plan B will spring to life.

Not done yet

Isn't it amazing how different view it is from two ends of a table?

We had some friends over after Alex's party for adult dinner. Don't be fooled, there are 6 kids running around in the house as these pictures are taken (actually only 5, Amelia is next to me in the highchair, hard to run in it).

Alex's party

This place is unreal, everybody had a good time. The kids did jumping castles, mini golf, treasure hunt and all kind of games. Pizza, sodas and cake was also served.

Santa Claus

We went to see santa at the Annual Christmas Light Show here in town. They put up a tremedous amount of displays that are pretty cool. They also do the Merry Go Araound and roasted marsmellows etc.

One can only hope that Fia and Alex gets what they want,
at least they got to tell the big man himself. Fia was not

all that convinced that he is OK to be with.

A card

A card in the mail can mean a lot to a almost 4 year old. Especially if it is from Farmor and Farfar. Alex got their card in the mail and it has to be on top of his dresser so that he can see it. So far I have read it for him 3 times.

Defroster

Grandma has bought us more lights, hell yeah! There is a fierce competition and a grand price for best decorated. I might have a shot this year, especially with our classy deer in the front.

I'm also contributing to global warming, unnecessary mercury evaporation and more. In my defense, beside it being Christmas time, is that we had a rodent sharpen it's teeth on various hoses and electrical cables on the Cadillac. Now the defroster doesn't work which is a pain in the ass since I park outside ( there is no way in hell I get the car in the garage, too many toys). I have two options to fix this.

1. Take the car to the mechanic.

2. Put up enough Christmas lights to keep the frost away.

I am going for # 2.

Appreciation

Fia really knows how to express her appreciation for her fathers hard work. If only mom was half as exited I could get away with all my crazy ideas.

Good night time

With Abi and Jaja her you would think that we have some one to step in for brushing teeth, putting on pj's and bedtime stories. Well I have been to Barcelona numerous times and after bringing the kids there, experience what loving grandparents are about, I will be very disappointed to morrow if I am not walking out on carrera Mallorca, zip code 08008 Barcelona.

Because tonight brought me back to one of my favorite places.

Pippi Långstrump wanna be

The turn out

Fia's room did turn out pretty good. All we are waiting for is Grandma who is making curtains, pillows and a bedspread. That is why I had to paint it Very Berry, which is by the way the 4th color in this room. Do I want to repaint it again? NOT!

Christmas spirit

Marta, Alex, Fia, Abi and Jaja went shopping. So did I buying more decorations. I chickened out and bought the cheap deer that doesn't move. Do you even know what body armor cost these days? I figure this is only one kick in the groin and since we decided that we are not having more kids the only thing that it will hurt is me for a few minutes.

That said, I can only imagine how Marta will appreciate this! Isn't it festive to drive down a street that looks like this?

Deer

Marta has strictly forbidden me to buy a couple of lighted deer displays for outside. Well now at Walmart they are on sale for 14.99 each. 200 lights on each deer and their heads even move.

Last night pulling in the drive way she says;

M: Where are the deer?

J: You told me that I couldn't buy any.

M: You never do what I tell you any way.

I take this as an open invitation to go and buy a few, a nice little herd to display in the front yard. I will head over to Walmart right away and hope they still have some left. Classier Christmas decoration you have to search for.

Maybe I should pick up some body armor for myself, you know, just in case I interpreted her wrong.

The Captain and Fia

7.20 pm 12/01/07 Charleston harbor, it is a bit cold. The lights in the back ground is Arthur Ravenel Jr bridge, spanning the Cooper river.

Oyster roast

Marta is greatly involved in the Moms club. They organize all kinds of play dates and activities for the stay at home moms. The kids and moms really benefit from this I think, I am a big supporter of this club.

One of the moms talked her husband in to have an oyster roast at there house. She's got a lot of pull because about 20 or so families showed up including the kids and I. Everybody knows my kids and Marta, not so many know me (1 other dad to be exact) so I got to hear; Ah, that's where the blond hair comes from. I also got plenty of mix ups; Sorry, I thought that was your wife.

Well, my wife is having a grand time in NY. I am how ever meeting the moms tomorrow for play group. I will see them at Barnes and Nobles and then we're going shopping. 2 of them wants to go have lunch afterword, what can I say, I'm psyked.

Before, during and after

If pink is not pink enough, go Very Berry!

Christmas parade of boats

Yesterday was the annual parade of boats. We have since we got Katie been out on the water to watch it. It is cold as hell and everybody gets to see the lights and fireworks but me. I'm busy navigating, not that there are that many boats out but try to see a crabpot buoy in the pitch black darkness. I do not want to jump in to cut that of the prop at night in the cold. Done that in the cold and naked infront of the tourboat one to many a time but that's an other story.

The kids and I went out with a group of friends and we had a good old time. This year there were some really great boats. People went to lengts to win the grand price that I have no idea of what that is. All in all there were maybe 40 boats in the parade followed by excellent fireworks.

Flag football

Alex is playing flag football. It is what I understand a kid friendly version of the real deal, a coworker told me that adults play it too and it seams to be a lot of fun. Each player has a belt with flags around their waist. The defending team is to jerk the flag of the guy with the ball. If they do they get the ball and tries to score a touch down.

Alex scored a touch down yesterday but I think he is more in to soccer. Any way, to see these 4 year old run back and forth on the field is great. One of his team mates, given the ball, will not stop running at all flags lost or not. He was all across the park yesterday with the coach and his parents trying to get him. Hilarius.

The grill

Can't beat $88 at Lowe's, right Dad? A couple of tuna steaks doesn't hurt either.

Abandoned

My children does not want to spend tonight at home. I am heartbroken and excited at the same time. Let me explain.

Marta and the kids went to grandma and grandpa's to do some craft stuff, most likely holiday stuff and yes, I did listen very carefully when they told me ( I called and said where are you and apparently they all ready told me) what they where doing. Anyhow, after me freaking out coming home at 7.00pm finding the house empty, my children, I repeat MY children, has the nerve to tell mom; Adiosch. (Fia's saying if you didn't get it).

Well, taking up on the opportunity, I pack the bag with clothes and pj's thinking that it will be a Honey I love you night. Wrong!

Marta calls after dropping off the necessities at grandma's, Can I meet my friend? Yes I said, off course. She goes: We're going shopping!

Yippee Kyiee! All I needed. This is what I get for reading stories and being a good husband.

I am a bit hairy, I admit to that, and that by the way is the only reason my oldest child looks like a warewolf 24/7 full moon or not.

100

Post # 100. Only took me 4 months. As I reread my past blogs I at times smile, laugh and what the hell was I thinking. I'm sure you feel the same.

The best so far has been the positive input from my family and friends at home, in Spain and Sweden. I will see if I can make it to 200,300 and so on for you. That is the reason I started for you to be able to keep up with our daily lives , and yes I color it the way I see it.

It is a hell of a lot more work than I imagined it to be, the most frustrating is to come up with a great blog only to realize that a computer is no where to be found. You have missed out on a few good ones.

I'm working on Marta to guest blog, I have shared my log in with her and the one that waits for something good....

In the meantime I will drive her and the kids nuts as usual.

Beaner

Walmart parking lot, 7.00pm. 5 Mexicans standing next to Betty, one of them leaning on her.

Jonas: You scratch it you buy it.

Mexican: Oh no, very expensive car, no.

Jonas: Not really, but I would appreciate if you didn't lean on it.

Mexican: So how much?

Jonas: $6000.00

Mexican: So 6000.00, you mean pesos, aye, esse?

Jonas: He, he, pal , don't call me esse, I don't call you beaner do I?

Mexican: Sorry esse, no you don't.

Jonas: Alright then, you buy it or what, seats 6 legally.

Mexican: I don't see any scratches.

Jonas: Your lucky day. Feliz Navidad!

The 5 Mexicans are laughing hard. One of them shouts:

Yuh, esse! You're funny for being a gringo! Feliz Navidad!

I give them a thumbs up and drive away.

Swan

Marta hates the boat, every body knows that and she is not shy to tell you so. How ever, if we had a Swan she be all over it (she does have two more "modest" boats as alternatives, Grand Soleil and Sweden Yacht). So when we passed this beautiful Swan 77 all I could think of is how good we would look on it, and how we could discover the seven seas together.

Hockey

To satisfy Joseph, here you go.Turn up the volume and enjoy Chucktown The Hockeytown! In the end of the second clip you can hear Fia say; Yeaaah!

Cheche

I cheche!

That we hear a few times a day. The word is Sofia's for leche or milk as they say in the US. She is a little talker Sofia, the one that understands her the best is Alex and he at times is our translator. She is funny Fia, she mixes Spanish, Swedish and English, but is always very polite and thanks you for what she gets with a classic;

Tack, tack.

Long weekend

I had a nice 4 days off due to Thanksgiving this past week. It always sucks Sunday night knowing you have a work week up ahead. Not this Sunday, next weekend I have 4 days as well. Marta will be in N.Y. and I will stay home with the kids. I need to plan some fun stuff for us to do.

This week we bought a gas grill, decorated the house for Christmas inside and outside, went sailing twice, saw a hockey game and of course ate turkey.

I did get my shelves up but they need a little more work, didn't turn out as I anticipated them to look. I will meed to fix that pronto.

Quiet time

Winds are out of the North, 20-25 knots, upper 50,s and sunny. Location of boat, the cockpit faces due south. There is no better place to spend a lazy Friday, the kids still prefer the v-berth, it's their little get away with blankets, pillows and more.

Breakfast

When I make breakfast it is a bit different than when Marta makes it. First of all the poor kids had chicken tenders that were supposed to be for a pick nick lunch.

Jonas; Fia is it good?

Fia; Jaaa!

Jonas; Are you scared for your breakfast?

Fia; Jaaa!

Jonas; That's thereason for wearing saftey goggles?

Fia; Jaaa!

Professional detailers

Alex and Fia sure are professionals, look at this, the boat is almost back to it's former glory when it was just purchased. One has to wear sun glasses not to be blinded in this mirror shine

November 21st

The beauty with living in the Lowcountry is the fact that in November one can enjoy the beach, in this case Isle of Palms. It is in the upper 70's and just perfect.

Pram

No, we are not getting dressed up. But a new era in my professional carer has started as of yesterday. We built our first Opti/Pram mast.

Alex has a Pram in the backyard that is on it's way back down to the marina for us to play with. I always take it home during hurricane season, have enough stuff to deal with should a hurricane arrive.

Marta is the next victim

Learning

Katie

Katie Too is our lovely Intrepid 9 Meter. Today she got her oil changed and a little rub a dub down. She enjoyed a Alex massage with Maquier's all in one polish and wax.

I used to detail cars and boats on the side, Alex is following in his dad's footsteps. Except that Katie looks like a Dalmatian when he is done. Shiny spot/dull spot. You get the picture.

Oatmeal

Marta made oatmeal for breakfast. I ate that every morning as a kid. Marta made it a bit different, she had pumpkin, brown sugar and other healthy things in it.

It tasted great, my belly is very satisfied and I can feel my cholesterol falling rapidly.

She did have great help in the kitchen though.

Saturday, November 17, 2007

Bad day

This guy tried to make a new channel in Charleston harbor. The kids and I sail around this island, not through it.

Rubber boots

Fia loves Alex's old boots, it is impossible to take them away from her. They are green froggie ones and the fact that mom finds her adorable and won't let her go doesn't help.

Dinner

Marta made some healthy food for dinner.

Jonas; What the hell is this?

Marta; Rice meatballs.

Jonas; Rice meat balls? What?

Marta; They have whole grain rice, sweet potatoes, spinach and chicken.

Jonas; This is dinner?

Marta; We also have pizza.

Jonas; Alright!

Marta; It consist of whole grain pita bread with home made organic tomato sauce and mozzarella cheese.

Jonas; Lucky me.

Marta; Let me know if you like it, maybe the kids will eat it.

Jonas; It tastes like crap, good luck feeding this to the kids.

Marta; You are mean, I will not be nice to you anymore!

Jonas; Honey, can I please have seconds?

In all honesty, the pizza was all right, the riceballs so,so. I did have seconds and thirds, I do not whish for my wife's spells. I have been there to many a time.

Good boy

Alex's teacher had nothing but good to say. He is very polite and helps out in class. He does need to stand up for himself a little bit more we all agreed upon. She showed us the best of his paintings and what he can count to and he knows all his colors and the alphabet.

She said that during a circle time when they practiced their Spanish, they said; Hola! Alex raised his hand and said; Miss Ixxx, I know how to say it in my Dad's language, Hallå! She thought it was the cutest.

She also said that he at times just comes up and gives her a hug. That is Alex for you. He does that to people he likes and trusts. Just randomly comes and gives you a hug. He can be playing in a different room, walk out and hug, tell you he loves you and then walk back to play some more.

Marta and I were very proud when we left school last night. We were almost floating in the air, the one that will get us back on the ground is Fia, we are pretty convinced that her reviews will be the opposite.

PT meeting

Tonight is our first PT meeting at Alex's new school. We are anxious to hear what his teachers has to say about him. So far they have mentioned that he is super sweet and a very good friend. The other day he came home with a bloody noose after being hit with a baseball bat. Marta threw a fit and found out who did it.

Well, they apparently have 2 boys in Alex's class that are terrible. All they do is fight with the other kids. The issue has been brought up to their parents numerous times and I guess the parents don't care. We are to bring this up tonight and have the school take necessary actions to have it stop. Kick them out for crying out loud. Yesterday Marta was told that Alex is just to good hearted to fight back.

Well, last night we told him to warn them first and then kick the shit out off them. Maybe not exactly the pep talk I like to have but rather that than him being bullied. I'm done dealing with ignorant parents.

Wednesday, November 14, 2007

Dinner

I am so looking forward to go home and have dinner. Marta is making a super dinner. We will have tuna steaks with her potato salad that is delicious. She uses red potatoes, avocado, red onion and some sort of home made dressing that is fantastic.

I've got to go, I'm hungry.

Monday, November 12, 2007

Good night

Your blogger is tired after a long day of work. I read a story for my 3 little ones. Mom overheard and snapped a picture. I will now call it a day and I wish you all a good night.

Guess what we did last weekend?

As always, out on the boat. No wind but we did learn that dolphins love to eat pretzels according to Alex and Fia. So does seagulls and otters. We also saw a pirate ship!

Recognition

Marta at times claim that I don't ever do/finish projects around the house. That is at times true, I do eventually get to them, it might take some time. Years she says.

Yesterday Marta, Fia and I went to Lowe's, a large hardware store and bought some MDF board and some trim for my next project. There will eventually be two shelves above the TV in the living room.

When we got to the register the cashier said;

Hi Jonas, yet another project?

So much for never doing projects. He couldn't have timed that better, didn't even have to pay the dude extra for saying that. The fact that he has worked there for at least 8 years might have something to do with it. Marta still claims I am just talk and no show when it comes to projects.

Jeans

Today we went to the outlet mall and I bought 2 pairs of Levis 501. I haven't had a pair of Levis since high school, been a true Diesel jeans guy until today. Well these days we are budgeting a little more than before. A pair of Diesel is around 150$. That amount we only spend on the kids these days.

So how much are 2 pairs of Levis at the outlet one might wonder. Just about as much as to fill my car with gas. Not bad at all, and we didn't buy anything for the kids, a first for us.

First mate

Fia is my little sailor. She can't wait for me to cast off for us to get out on the water. Now when she is 18 months she gets around pretty well. I step of on the dock and before you know it, both my girls are up on fore deck.

Thought he was dead

One of the electricians managed to electrocute himself pretty badly yesterday. There was a loud explosion and sparks flew all the way up in the ceiling, there is about 20 feet (6 meters) to the ceiling. The guy flew backwards and I thought here we go, time to call the fire department. He laid on the floor where he landed, 10 feet from the junction box, not moving. The ambulance came and loaded him up and carted him off. The guy was clearly in shock.

After that the other electricians found out that the wire he pulled caught a sharp edge on the conduit and simply shorted out. He got about 240 volt through him. It blew a big hole in the conduit and one guy is making a trophy out of it.

The guy came back in the afternoon, alive but very sore. He will be out for awhile, I can't imagine the pain in his muscles.

Electric day

Today started with a jump start. The battery in the Caddie was dead, took Marta's trustworthy Volvo out to jump it. Both our vehicles has the batteries in weird spots, The Volvo in the trunk, the Caddie under the backseat. An other jump at work and off I went to replace it. 140$ later, off course only one special model fits. Has to be of some sort of hydro yata yata as well.

Then we had a few light issues at work. A few rows of light didn't work properly. The electrician came and the panel is fried. The wires were so warm they were glowing red. Needless to say we are lucky that it never caught on fire. So it will be a week until they have replaced the wiring, until then we work in the dark.

And our pick truck broke down as well, the hydraulic motor won't engage, probably an electrical switch.

It comes in threes.

Language barrier

Last night at Publix I had a hard time at the Deli counter. All I tried to do was to buy a pound of ham and cheese. The lady behind the counter might as well have been Greek, we could not understand each other.

Lady; Yeah?

Jonas; A pound of black forest ham and a pound of provolone, please.

Lady; Black?

Jonas; Black forest ham.

Lady; We don't got no ham.

Jonas; It's that one, Right there, next one over, yap that's it.

Lady; Do you want it sliced?

(since I am standing at the deli, yes, that's kind of what I expect)

Jonas; Thin, please. ( she shaves it in to a pile of meat)

Lady; Cheese with that?

Jonas; A pound of provolone, please.

I only get 1/2 a pound of each but that's OK, I just go back in a couple of days and maybe then I get someone that doesn't speak Gullah. Looking around the deli I think I am out of luck.

Morfar

Today my grandfather died. Morfar. Swedish for Mothers Father. We did not have a good relationship, haven't seen him in years, but at the end of the day he was my Morfar. I have a lot of great memories of him, he was a very kind man, too kind for his own good, that I will cherish. Morfar said that he was ready and curious on what is on the other side.

Morfar, now you're there. I hope that it is just what you hoped for. If any one deserves a break, it is my Morfar.

Halloween

Today was Halloween. The kids dressed up and Marta took them trick or treating. I was at home base handing out candy. So I thought. 10 trick or treater's was all I got. We have tons of candy left. What is wrong with people? We have never had this bad a turnout. I guess they all think that we are sex offenders, aliens as we are. It is sad that society has become so afraid of one's next neighbor that they won't go trick or treating. God forbid they step on your property and trip, you will loose your house. Well, as long as your lawyer is better than theirs, you're OK.

The kids had fun, I had fun (I will gain 10 lbs after testing the candy) and Marta made a gourmet meal. That is all that matters.

NC Halloween

A few pics from last weekend

The weekend

We had a hectic weekend and tons of fun. It started out Friday with the steering braking down on the Cadillac at 60 mph. That was a scary event. 900$ later and it is as new.

Saturday morning we left for Charlotte, NC to the Neal's annual Halloween party. What a party that was. We were about 40 families and the whole thing was catered towards the kids. They had a hay ride, a maze, pumpkin patch, ghost walk, a grave yard etc, etc. A witch did magic shows and a caterer served good food. We spent the night and the next day I went to the Panthers game, they lost badly to the Colts as expected.

Alex is talking about this party every day, I have never been to a nicer party. They went all out. That they have a beautiful house on on Lake Norman was just the dot above the i, did I mention that they are extremely generous and down to earth people? That's a good thing because Fia is their future daughter in law (if Connor stays as sweet as he is).

Too tired

I am not a morning person. My alarm goes off at 5.45am every day and I hate it. I have had this morning routine for the past 15 years and I still hate it, can't seem to get used to it.

This morning I woke up, hit the snooze a few times and tried to be as quiet as I can. Not to wake anyone up I don't turn on any lights. This morning was even darker due to rain showers. As a result I put on one blue and one black Croc this morning. I have worn them all day without any comments. I guess people don't pay attention to one's shoes.

Or they are laughing at me behind my back.

Pappa

Is what I hear around 2.00 am. The little Sofia can't sleep so she wants to jump in our bed. She knows that mom won't wake up, I on the other hand get my arms out and lift her into bed. I let her fall asleep and then I carefully carry her back to her own bed. Then at 4.00 am we repeat the procedure. Some nights I give in at 2.00.

This is the only time when Fia is snuggly, she is stingy with her hugs during daytime. And she hates to be covered by the duvet so I freeze from the wee morning hours on. I am sure tonight will be no different.

A good friend

Marta booked Alex's birthday party last week at Blackbeard's Cove.

That is all fine and dandy but a with one tiny problem. He has way too many friends, this will cost a fortune. I think we can have up to 14 kids, after that we have to upgrade to the next level (24 kids). Cheap as I am these days I said to Marta let's keep it within 12-14 kids, find out who he plays with at school so we don't have to invite the whole class, 15 kids.

Well, lo and behold, what do you know. The little rascal is friends with everybody. His teacher's and the Director told Marta that he is one of those rare children that gets along with everybody and plays with them all. He is very sweet and polite and a super good friend. Next week he is the kid of the week and they are all excited and they think that later in life he will be voted the nicest kid/friend etc.

Typical that we get a child like that, now we have to invite everybody. Darn it. I still have 1 1/2 month to mean him up and teach him how to pick on people a little so that we can keep the party cheaper. What is he thinking, being nice to everybody. No, I will have to get that out of him before we go bankrupt. The first count is 29 kids, we have to go to 36 kids party pack, SIGH!

Santa Claus

We had Santa come a Thursday in October, not Santa but Pam or Grandma to half our house hold.

I could hardly open the door when I got home. Apparently Belk's had an enormous sale of Nautica, Ralph Lauren, Lilly Pulitzer, Tommy Hilfiger, DKNY etc.

Pam of course had to spoil us rotten as always, she can smell a good sale from miles away.

Jonas; Pam, you don't need to do this.

Pam; I know.

Jonas; Thank you so much.

Pam; You're welcome Honey.

Jonas; Wow, how much did you get?

Pam; I saved 3000$ over regular price.

Who says Santa lives in the North Pole? She lives right here in Mt.Pleasant and goes by the name Grandma.

Soccer star

This is our soccer star, next generation David Beckham. Let's hope he marries a prettier girl, but I guess as long as the money is good.

Alex's season is almost over, seams like it started yesterday. Well, when November rolls in he start to play flag football (American football). Then you will find a very quiet Swede on the sideline, I have no idea what one should do.

Peace of mind

This is what gives me peace of mind. We could have used a bit more wind but who's picky?
